Vision of International Sports University, Maharashtra

International Sports University, Maharashtra (ISUM) aspires to be a leading international centre for sports education, sports science, high-performance training, sports management, sports technology and research. The University is headquartered at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune — a venue associated with national games and the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games.

The vision is aligned to the Maharashtra International Sports University Act, 2020, which created a specialised State University to prepare competent personnel in sport and to serve as a State training centre for selected disciplines.

Mission

• Provide world-class sports education and professional programmes in physical education, sports science and sports management.
• Develop qualified coaches, trainers, sports scientists, sports managers and sports administrators for Maharashtra and India.
• Promote sports science, sports medicine, physiotherapy, nutrition, psychology and performance analysis.

Strategic focus

ISUM unites classroom teaching with laboratories and elite sporting infrastructure at Balewadi. Students of the Bachelor of Sports Science and Bachelor of Sports Management study in an environment where competition, coaching and research can inform one another. The University’s public mandate includes functioning as a centre of excellence for talented sportspersons and as a knowledge resource for the State.
